“Well… My 2002 and I had a rough week. On Tuesday she and I were in a minor roll over accident, Completely my fault when I spun her on the 90 ro 53 N on ramp. just go a little to excited with the gas and that was all she wrote.

Unfortunately I don’t have the time or money to repair her. I wanted to offer it up to my fellow ‘02 friends first. A lot of you have seen the car, she isn’t a concours car, but was a great driver and I am deeply saddened to see it go. It is a ‘73, I planned on keeping it forever so there are a lot of spares that I collected along the way. I have a clean and clear title in my name. You will see the damage is all on the driver side and roof.

“The car was converted to participate in rallies. The elements of sports that has the car include: rummage, sports carburetors, electronic ignition, handbrake sports, sports exhaust, magnesium wheels, sports steering wheel, seats and belts SPARCO company. In addition, the original grid of “puddle” is complemented by sporty steering and lowered suspension. Car runs very well. Visually does not differ much from the original version but does not look all that matters only what sits under the hood, and the car boasts a 150 km 2l engine for two carburetors. Power, of course, the original only after modifications that allowed to generate such power. All this together, plus quite firm suspension and low weight make a huge impression when driving. The car is the adjustment and replacement of ignition nothing leaks or knocks. Car garage all the time. Car works well in mountain races. His last achievement was the 3rd place in the competition “Bison” in Lanckorona.”

On Wednesday the 10th of April, page member Okke Amerongen and his 1972 2002 will be embarking on the journey of a lifetime. Okke will be driving his ‘02 from his home town Utrecht through Germany, Switzerland and Italy. While in Brindisi, Italy Okke and his ‘02 will be taking a boat to Igoumenitsa, Greece. While there, Okke wants to “find out what REALLY is going on. Page member Nicholas Z’s ‘85 325e is up for sale. The description of the car is as follows.

Up for sale is my project….that in classic project form, has funding issues. All it needs is a clutch, exhaust, belts and hoses and it could be a sweet running classic BMW.

As you can see, it is still apart…if you know these cars, that shouldn’t be a big issue.

I have a 79K mile motor that has been completely resealed, has a new timing belt, fresh paint and brass freeze plugs. I was doing this build right to have a good reliable motor. Trans is clean and shifted well prior to disassemble.

Car has 16x,xxx miles on it and has a new radiator with an electric fan. Very minimal rust and I have a straight drivers side BMW fender (not flimsy reproduction). Clean, no accidents on this one.

Interior is decent, considering age and such.

Call or text with any questions. I’ve done all the work and can tell you about all of it. I have a lot invested in this project (it has a blown motor when I got it due to a severly warped head, so this is a whole new motor). Unfortunately my old cars that I still drive are eating up more funds than I have. If you are local and cool, I may even be able to help with reassembly….or you can buy parts and pay me to do it. =) Also have tons of extra parts….

~The Good~

Getrag 240 5spd transmission from a 1983 bmw 320i, a considerable improvement over the standard 4spd.

The engine was overhauled by reputable bmw-mechanic Greg Black in Dallas, TX. At the time, the engine was installed in another vehicle, the previous owner had the rebuilt engine transplanted into this one as well as installed the 5spd and resprayed the car over the original Inka Orange. Most of the major work was done in Dallas, TX and is documented as such.

Regularly maintained, fluid changes, as well as newly installed tires, battery, alternator, starter, and some engine harness wiring.

Head turning, classic car with collector value. This is the car that made bmw what it is today. It is truely a fantastic car whether you know the history and significance or not

Mechanically sound, daily driven car, few problems

Modern sound system with auxiliary inputs

Low miles, no rust

Great gas mileage, efficient commuter

Fun to drive, you can’t go anywhere without a smile

~The bad~

The car is 40 years old so it has its “quirks”

The paint job leaves something to be desired, previous owner repainted over the original Inka Orange. The new black paint with all the chrome accents on the car looks fantastic, and the paint job looks superb from 10 feet away, but it lacks the professional quality I feel this car deserves. Anyways, not a huge deal…just know/buyers beware…this is far from a concours winning show piece.

The bucket seats installed by previous owner could benefit from some new webbing for support and the headrests rebuilt. Otherwise great

The windshield wipers and horn do not work consistently (loose connections)

Car needs brakes (pads and a bleed), depending on how long the sale of the car will potentially take I may take care of this on my own time before purchase.

This car has been an absolute blast to drive, a very reliable way to get around town in style. I bought the car in Dallas and drove it to Oklahoma City and then back to Arizona in June. Over a 1,000 mile trip in less than a hot summer day with no problems. The car has been great to me. I’d trust this car as-is on a road trip and regularly drive it to work and back everyday. Before my ownership it was owned by a classic car dealer in Dallas who purchased the car from Arizona, so I ended up bringing the car back to where it was from. It’s been an AZ car for most of it’s life, stored in Flagstaff and not driven for quite some time.

Asking $7,650 or best offer, and/or trade. If you have a trade keep in mind I’m regretfully selling in order to finance the purchase of a more family-friendly form of transportation. It’ll be sad to see her go, but I’ve decided it’s time to let go and move on. Family and work have taken priority over my toys/projects.
