3.0S/3.0Si - 1971 to 1977

The 3.0S was the first 3-liter New Six model, introduced in Europe in 1971. The engine was a bored out 2.8 liter with a 1985cc, 180hp power plant. The 3.0S was equipped with twin Zenith 35/40 INAT carburetors, while the 3.0Si featured a Bosch L-Jetronic fuel-injection system. The first 3.0S appeared in the USA in 1974, 3 years after its introduction. The fuel-injected version of the 3.0S was the 3.0Si, along with the Bavaria, one of the most popular of the New Six sedans. In a November 1973 review, Motor Trend called the 3.0S “the best value on the market”.
